April 2013

April 20 (Sat) Eagle's Crest Volunteer Day, 9am-1pm at Eagle's Crest Nature Preserve.  Celebrate Earth Day by pitching in to help pull invasive plants at the Eagle's Crest Nature Preserve on the west side of Eagle Creek Reservoir. This event is co-hosted by the Amos Butler Audubon Society.  Dress for being outdoors and getting messy - volunteers will be helping pull garlic mustard, cutting down woody invasives in reforestation plots, and planting native seeds.  For more information please contact Brenda Howard with Indy Parks Land Stewardship, 317-327-7470

 
April 27 (Sat) Great Indy Clean Up - Sign up to volunteer and help clean the south side of Eagle Creek Park along 56th St., in partnership with Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, Inc.  We will be meeting at the Eagle Creek Park office at 9am and picking up trash along 56th St. from High School Road to Raceway Road (police will be present to slow traffic).  Please call 327-7148 to sign up. 

May 2013

May 1 (Wed) Volunteer Coffee Talk - 8:30am at the Earth Discovery Center.  Park Naturalist Kevin Carlsen will present "Wildlife Photography"
 
May 11 (Sat) Iron Eagle Paddle and Run, The Iron Eagle is an Eagle Creek Park Foundation event that will help raise money for Eagle Creek Park.  Volunteers are needed from 7am to 3pm to help set up, guide traffic and runners, assist with boats, and help clean up.

June 1 (Sat) Eagle Creek Park Foundation Free Fishing Derby, Volunteers are needed anywhere from 6am-1pm to help hand out worms, untangle fishing rods, assist with parking, act as roaming helpers to assist kids as they fish, and more!
